Instructions:
- Connect the descender to the load bearing ring on the safety harness
- Run the rope through small and big rings
- Turn the descender and link it to the small ring
- Check if the installation and locking system
- Double loop the rope around the descender
- Let the rope through the big ring and rig as shown
- Undo the rigging
- Descend steadily as shown
Note:
1. Please do more practice with AOKWIT rappel figure 8 in lower altitudes before going to the higher altitudes.
2. Please perform the safety checks no matter how many times you’ve rappelled.
3. Verify that when you hold the two strands of the rope parallel to each other.
The rope runs through the figure 8 device in a symmetric fashion and the tail end of the rope is on the same side as your dominant hand.
If one or both of those is not true, you’ve rigged the device incorrectly.
4. Double-check that the locking carabiner attaching the figure 8 device to your harness is locked
And oriented so that it’s only loaded on the top and bottom ends — not across the middle.
And finally, verify that your climbing or rappelling harness is correctly fastened.
